Research

Poplar Heights Farm is pleased to be able to support research into the history of the region.

We have collected many area records - genealogy records, plat books, cemetery and funeral home records, historic photos, maps and more.  Research projects have included:

  • Jefferson Highway
  • Early Stone Cutters in Western Missouri
  • World War II - Bates County Home Front
  • One Room Schools of Bates County
  • The Civil War in Bates County - stories of residents from 10 years of border warfare thru the end of the Civil War in 1865

The foundation has also conducted it’s own research and prepared a number of reports and presentations including:

  • Jefferson Highway
  • Early Stone Cutters in Western Missouri
  • World War II - the Bates County Home Front

When possible, we will make portions of the material available on this web site. Currently, the final report on Early Stone Cutters in Western Missouri can be viewed by clicking the “Stone Cutters” button on the left. In addition, we are continuously information from our archives to the Cemeteries of Bates County web site.
